<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, one of the other DIY projects I have been working on for Jules' upcoming party- are tutu's! Every pixie needs a tutu right?!! I have quite a few girls so purchasing quality/cute tutu's would have been pricey unless I went the dollar store route- and those are not quite up to my standards ;) With the help of YouTube- I found a great Tutorial on how to make them. They are turning out adorable and I think the girls will love flying around in them at the party.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Here is the link to learn how to make one yourself! <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTXo6uv9HxA">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTXo6uv9HxA</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
TIP- you can purchase tulle ribbon in bulk which makes it a lot easier to work with. I'm not sure if anyone can purchase from this company but <a href="http://www.nashvillewraps.com/">http://www.nashvillewraps.com/</a> is where I bought mine. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"All you need is a little faith, trust, and a little pixie dust!!" good luck!</div>

My sweet little Jules is turning 3 and of course we are planning a fabulous party to celebrate it! This year she is old enough to tell me what she wants so we agreed upon "Tinkerbell- Pixies and Pirates". First things first- let the invitation hunt begin! It's very hard to find a character invite that is not a huge image of the character flat printed on a card. I agreed to Tinkerbell but DID NOT WANT THAT KIND OF PARTY. Not that there is anything wrong with it but I'm all about the details and creativity so I'm not looking for a party in a box situtaion. So here I am again designing something myself. The past two parties I have drawn the artwork and had a friend spruce them up on on the computer for me. I spent way too many hours glittering or hand cutting them in the past so I wanted to go more simple this time. My good friend Claire (who used to own her own stationery company) helped me and we created some "Fairy" cute invites that Jules loves and so do I.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With a little time, some creativity, and good friends anything is possible! I found lime green glitter paper at our local Hobby Lobby and used it as the backing for the card. The next layer (used for printing the text)was made out of lilac shimmer cardstock (bought at Expedex). We used a Disney font on her name in keeping with the Tinkerbell theme. The actual "Tinkerbell" part of the invites was the hardest part of the process! I found dimensional stickers (because you can't copy tinkerbell and reprint it since she is copyrighted to use on each invite. I had to go all over the city to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and even Target to get enough of them. For some added detail we used a Martha Stewart Corner Punch "Cherish" on the corners of the lime green glitter paper. All the layers were glued together by glue dots. They were sealed inside pink shimmer envelopes and mailed to all the little pixie's and pirates.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Super easy, way better than a generic printed card, and affordable- not to mention my little Pixie loves them! Definitely recommend a good DIY project from time to time. Stay tuned for more party planning and details!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
PS: My friend and graphic designer Heather (who actually did our Social Butteflies website) came to the rescue when Claire's computer died with our artwork on it (moments before we were going to print them!) She laid out the invite and I had them printed and cut at Office Max. Phew!!! Nothing's ever that easy- right!?? Thanks Heather!!</div>

As I was working on an award submission and it asked me how I achieved my goals of producing an amazing event, I realized that communicating ideas to our brides and they in turn provide us with ideas has become a lot easier and more on target than in the past. I can think back to when there were no cell phones (I know that is admitting I'm old!) and how hard it must have been to give clients a vision without drawing something out or tearing out thousands of magazine pictures (I know we all still do this!), but with smartphones, the internet, Pinterest, Facebook, Google, etc. the possiblities of showing clients and clients showing the professionals what they like and want has become amazingly easy.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M6J3UpPlP8U/TxWGdJxHFQI/AAAAAAAAAnU/NNkGKHZ3aww/s1600/kid+craft.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" kba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M6J3UpPlP8U/TxWGdJxHFQI/AAAAAAAAAnU/NNkGKHZ3aww/s200/kid+craft.PNG" width="133" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Aq8wLjIzHms/TxWGht1RN6I/AAAAAAAAAnc/Cw5zDRDgbaw/s1600/design.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" kba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Aq8wLjIzHms/TxWGht1RN6I/AAAAAAAAAnc/Cw5zDRDgbaw/s200/design.PNG" width="133" /></a>I have absolutely, and most of you all have too, fallen in love with Pinterest. I find myself sitting on the couch spending more time looking at the wonderful pins than the TV show I'm suppose to be watching. Do the TV executives know that we are looking at our iPads or iPhones instead of the commercials advertisers spend tons of money on!</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
If you haven't become a follower of Pinterest and you are looking to get married in the near future, it is a great tool to use to help your planner know the ideas you like and love. You can even search for specific ideas and there will be numerous boards with those ideas.</div>
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I find myself looking for the next cute saying or sign on Pinterest. I'm amazed at so many awesome ideas for storage, organization, dinner ideas, desserts, kid games, etc. I think my favorite category is Women's Apparel and Hair. Love all the clothes combinations they give you. For those of you who lack style - take your iPhone and take a picture of the clothing combo and shop around till you find all that the combo suggests. Wala! </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Our wonderful clients, Casey and Tracy Dugan came to us with a unique theme in mind for their October 7, 2011 wedding- Disney World! However, not a bold colored theme- park concept-more of an underlying hint of the softer, magical and romantic side of Disney World. The couple was actually engaged at Cinderella’s castle on a family Disney trip! From the start we knew Tracy wanted everything to work together but not in a matching kind of way. No mono-chromatic color scheme here! “I didn’t want people to feel like they are at a wedding, but a place with friends having a good time. Vintage, romance, Disney and family were the themes I wanted tied together,” says Tracy. So we began designing the event in a setting of blush pink, ivory, champagne and pops of peacock blue and marigold. </div>

Guests were greeted by a valet service and then handed custom programs that housed hand-made ribbon wands (made by the bride and her mother) with instructions for them to “wave at the kiss.” The ceremony décor was very natural and included lots of textured plants such as cotton and hay- along with flowers. No two arrangements or bouquets were alike. The Bride’s grand entrance was made to the tune of “When You Wish Upon a Star,” by a White Horse drawn Carriage- one more detail that added perfectly to our theme. And to top it off- it was a total surprise for the groom! </div>

Half way there, they were greeted with a signature drink called “Pirates of the Caribbean” complete with sword-skewered fruit. Inspired by the Disney park maps, guests were also handed personal maps (created by Natalie Chang Designs) showcasing the layout and food options at the cocktail party and reception. The Alice in Wonderland inspired “Mad Hatter Cocktail Party” was the perfect beginning to this fun reception. Guests enjoyed the games in the whimsical lit area or could relax on the porch in a setting made of vintage benches and sign the guest book quilt (also created by the Bride and her mother). Long tables dressed in burlap linens with hand-made vintage fabric runners (made by the mother of the bride) were used to make the reception more family-style. Romantic flowers, cotton, succulents, moss displayed in milk glasses, garden boxes, silver vases and other vintage inspired containers were used as centerpieces all designed by Haute Horticulture. Giant fabric rosettes used as chair backs flanked the ends of each setting.</div>

Such a fun detail that was custom for this event and the bride could actually use it again in her home after the event since she purchased it with this in mind. The catering was done by Ziparo’s and featured the following stations: </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Wedding Planners are more than coordinators, they are
visionaries who are able to take your ideas and style and make your event
uniquely yours. How do they do this –
they customize it with details! </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">First off let’s dispel the notion that your budget doesn’t
allow for a wedding planner to customize your event. Any number of social magazines will tell you that one of the
first steps in planning a successful event is to set a budget, but for some
reason, most people assume a planner is not included in the budget. Why is that? Because they aren’t a necessity like a caterer, entertainment, rentals,
etc.? Is it the fear that the money you
could have spent getting the band you wanted is now going to the planner and
you have to settle for a dj? </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">For those of you who
are stressing over the work load of planning an event, <b><i>a planner is most
assuredly in the budget</i></b> and you shouldn’t have to forfeit your desired
vendors! A good event planner will
account for their fees in planning your budget. In order for this to work though, it is best to let your planner
know those services that are most important to you so that they can plan the budget
around those vendors. They will also
be able to take the budgeted services and give you vendors that not only fit
your personality but your budget too.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Another great perspective on hiring a planner is that they
know the local vendors and national vendors’ inventory and should know who has the
best price for the items in your budget!
Why rent linens from a NY company and pay shipping if a local rental
company is willing to purchase the same linen and add it to their inventory,
and thereby saving you a shipping fee!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Most importantly, a wedding planner will be a good negotiator
and hopefully negotiate better prices for you because of their previous
relationships with the vendors; so much so that it might eventually pay for the
planner via discounts and allow you to afford the details that will set your
event apart from the others!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So now you can stop stressing about your party and budget
and focus on the custom details that make your event all YOU and the talk of
the town! <i><b><span style="color: white;">Here is a list of details
that you can use to customize your wedding and make them unique to your event:</span></b></i></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;"> <span style="color: white;"><b><i>Custom Invitations</i></b></span> - This is the first thing your guests receive so why not start here
with customizing your event!</span></span></div>
<div class="ListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span style="text-indent: -0.25in;"> <b><i><span style="color: white;">Decor </span></i></b>- </span></span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">WOW them with custom lighting, specialty linens, chairs, furniture or props – and if you can’t have all of it, at least do lighting – lighting can transform a room unlike any other linen or chair!</span></div>
<div class="ListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><b><i><span style="color: #4c1130;">2 </span></i></b></span></span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; text-indent: -0.25in;"><span style="color: white;"><b><i>A</i></b><i style="font-weight: bold;">lcohol</i></span><i style="color: #4c1130; font-weight: bold;"> </i></span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; text-indent: -0.25in;">– Everybody loves a signature drink, but why
not go further than that and do a “cocktail pairing” with the food. For instance, if you are thinking of doing a
sushi station – add a sake drink to the station. </span></div>
<div class="ListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><b><i><span style="color: #4c1130;">4 </span><span style="color: white;">Favors</span></i></b> – Sometimes these can be seen as a waste of
money. However, if you make it a
memorable gift, it will remind your guests of all the fun they had at your
event. For example, at the end of the
night if you are using a valet company, leave them a nice gift in the seat of
their car so it is one more surprise for them as they leave!</span></div>
<div class="ListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><i><b><span style="color: #4c1130;">5 </span><span style="color: #4c1130; font: normal normal normal 7pt/normal 'Times New Roman';"> </span><span style="color: white;">Entertainment</span> </b></i>– How can you make entertainment a custom
detail? Are you an Elvis lover? Why not give your guests the famous gold
sunglasses while the band/dj is playing one of his songs and during the song
have the caterer do a late night snack with a fried peanut butter and banana
sandwich triangle with Pepsi shots (hint another catering detail)!</span></div>
<div class="ListParagraph" style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -.25in;">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><b><i><span style="color: #4c1130;"> </span><span style="color: white;">Signage</span></i></b> – Gives
that personal touch to a bar, a bus sign, the menu cards, party favors, etc. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Details can make all the difference in an
unforgettable event and an even that is “just nice.” So think outside of the box or hire an event planner who can help
you decide which details you need to do to make the most impact.<b><i><span style="color: white; font-size: large;"> A successful

Such was the case for Tim's 50th Birthday Bash given by his wife Shari. Shari had the theme colors she wanted - black and copper - check! We decided to go with an outdoor themed event around her pool - check! Why not do all black leather furniture for the guests instead of tables - check! But what are we going to do for entertainment? The ideas that were tossed around were the following: band - no, too cliche'; casino (great idea, but Tim didn't want one); no crazy girls popping out of cakes (to risque!); why not make the local celebrity Chef Wally Joe the entertainment! Tim loves his food and what better way to represent Tim's birthday than to have his favorite chef not only caterer the food for the event but also provide his guests with a culinary expericence. BIG CHECK! It was decided to make Chef Wally Joe the entertainment by having him give an interactive presentation of the food that was to be served. Each course that came out would be described and then passed amongst the guests. </div><br />
The menu included: Roasted Baby Beets, Frisee, Spiced Wlanuts, Goat Cheese & Black Garlic Vinaigrette (on Forks); Berber Spiced Tomato "Tartar" on Chickpea Panisse with Baby Arugula & Cilantro Yogurt; Scallop Ceviche with Heirloom Tomato Taboleh (in Chinese Spoon); Butter Pached Lobster, Vanilla Lobster Roe Vinaigrette & Avocado Custard (Served in Egg with Demitasse Spoon); Duck Pistachio Terrine, Pickld White Cherries & Candied Fennel on Grilled Sourdoug Bread; Potatoe Croquant stuffed with Oxtail, Bone Marrow & Cantal Cheese (served in Potato "tube"); Seared Mishima Beef with Aro Dolce Wild Mushrooms on Farro Flatbread; Thyme Roasted Colorado Lamb, Wrapped Red Mustard Sprouts, Peppers, Olives & Benton Bacon-Anchovy Dressing (Bamboo skewered through middle); last but not least the ACTION STATION: Cherries Jubilee - Kirchwasser, Cherries, Oranges, Vanilla Ice Cream & Vanilla Financier Cake! Tim didn't want a traditional cake and since this was a culinary entertainment event - why not give him a flaming dessert instead!<br />

The same holds true for wedding planners and event designers. When you have worked for a year on an event and have pour thousands of hours into the planning and designing of it, you want it to be recognized as a great event not only by the guests and clients that attended the event, but by your peers too. </div><br />
Thus was the case for Laura Romanow Trawick's wedding on April 10, 2010. Many of you have seen her wedding pictures posted all over our website, Say Yes Magazine and Facebook page and we even tried to use it to win $10,000 from Classic Party Rentals as one of the best events for 2010. Of course if you were voting for us you would know we placed 2nd in that contest and that was a successful win in our book, especially since we were competing against a California hospital. However, this wasn't a "panel of your peers" voting for you, but your friends and family, who love you and want to see you win. So to submit the same wedding to the National Association of Catering Executives (an association of over 5,000 members) for an award judged by your peers and to win is like climbing Mount Everest and shouting form the top "I DID IT!"<br />

<br />
Well this is LONG overdue to say the least!!! :) My sweet baby girl turned 2 this February and I threw her a fun Birthday Carnival to celebrate with family and friends! And I'm just now recovering 4 months later to write about it-ha! Just kidding- it was really easy this year thanks to a great team of friends/vendors!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RNl2jE5K76E/TeUniDP3EVI/AAAAAAAAAiY/yiZ-vhXhyZI/s320/jules+carnival+invitation.jpg" t8="true" width="320" />This year, I did not spend the many hours working on details that I did for her first birthday. Mainly because I did not have the time! We had a huge wedding the end of January that consumed me so thankfully this theme didn't require as much of me ;) I did design the invitation with the help of my good friend Natalie Chang. </div> I always enjoy sketching out Jules' party invite because it gives me inspiration and gets me all excited about the details immediately! So, Natalie takes my sketch and makes it into something way more fabulous than I could ever imagine! The invites shimmered with pixie dust (clear glitter) and had orange and white striped envelope liners with the return address as a "ticket" stamp. It's the little things right ;)<br />
<br />
The most amazing thing about her party this year was my good friends Kristin and Joe of Zipario's Catering, did the food!!!!! Having your party catered is really the best gift you can give yourself and your guests ha! It takes the stress level down about a million notches for me- and then I get to focus on the details and making things cute! Zipario's did an incredible job and my friends and family have not stopped talking about how delicious and abundant the food was ;) Your mouth is going to water when you see the pics! <br />
<br />
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PG5w0VNoDZM/TeUo0nKZZjI/AAAAAAAAAig/_2oh2wa8BQ4/s320/0046-_DSC0439.jpg" t8="true" width="212" /> <img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MHAIhW2ogx8/TeUpW8gj8WI/AAAAAAAAAiw/7dRUOaJdV00/s320/0075-DSC_7540.jpg" t8="true" width="212" />`<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
The party was held at our new home in Germantown. We moved about a year ago so I wanted this to be our first big shin-dig at our new house. However- our house is not a Big Top tent- so my dear friends at Mahaffey Tent & Rental Company "pitched" in to create just what we needed! Our back patio became a Carnival tent with games,food, and a balloon artist and our sun porch and living room housed the photo booth/desserts/face painting/ and favors. We even played carnival tunes of course. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KmfW0mtZh1k/TeUCEqKQ0HI/AAAAAAAAAiQ/E9ZGkWe1Vuc/s1600/0007-_DSC0086.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KmfW0mtZh1k/TeUCEqKQ0HI/AAAAAAAAAiQ/E9ZGkWe1Vuc/s320/0007-_DSC0086.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Let me take you from start to finish so we can cover all the details :) <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xkqNgnv9-hE/TeUCJ9jj_1I/AAAAAAAAAiU/AXL6tdROi1Y/s1600/0004-_DSC0163.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xkqNgnv9-hE/TeUCJ9jj_1I/AAAAAAAAAiU/AXL6tdROi1Y/s320/0004-_DSC0163.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a>Large Polk a dot Balloons tied to our mailbox signaled guests to our house. As they approached our front porch- there was hot pink and orange fabric swagged curtain style over the doorway and a floral Clown on the door. Haute Horticulture (my florist!) did the flowers and never ceases to amaze me! I know Karin thought I was crazy when I asked for a Clown's face made of flowers but as you can see- she is good at that kind of stuff! She also did some popcorn boxes of yellow carnations that we tied HUGE balloons to so they looked like Hot Air Balloons! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GazO2OssyBk/TeUBzCICouI/AAAAAAAAAiM/KcDWmsC5K6c/s1600/0003-_DSC0161.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GazO2OssyBk/TeUBzCICouI/AAAAAAAAAiM/KcDWmsC5K6c/s320/0003-_DSC0161.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div>Inside, the favors lined my dining room table. 9' of large Polk a dot balloons attached to clear take out boxes of animal crackers. Labels reading "Thanks for Clowning Around at Juliana's Birthday Carnival!" adorned each one. <br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">In the living room- a red and white striped photo back drop was set up with props such as clown wigs/noses/glasses/boas/fairy wings ect. for everyone to enjoy. This was also part of my plan for thank you notes- I sent guests the pics they took with a thank you note after the party. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The Popcorn Stations were also set up in this room- popcorn chicken and actual popcorn in multiple flavors. Above my fireplace hung a large painting that was a replica of her invitation. Thanks to my good friend Claire ;) She whipped it out in no time so my mantle would match the party!! I LOVE that I'm so blessed with such creative and talented friends!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Hlurucdcw0/TeUpu8M6lwI/AAAAAAAAAi0/tXsO4b-vUfw/s1600/0001-_DSC0008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; height: 131px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; width: 160px;"><img border="0" height="132" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Hlurucdcw0/TeUpu8M6lwI/AAAAAAAAAi0/tXsO4b-vUfw/s200/0001-_DSC0008.jpg" t8="true" width="200" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwz0jn4cDZw/TeUqOQh9aII/AAAAAAAAAjI/mkHaKJV-LhI/s1600/0027-_DSC0189.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="112" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bwz0jn4cDZw/TeUqOQh9aII/AAAAAAAAAjI/mkHaKJV-LhI/s200/0027-_DSC0189.jpg" t8="true" width="200" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

Pink Cotton Candy, "hot dog" cannolis, cupcakes, and a smash cake for Jules. I had a lot of fun with the cupcakes and did mini ice cream cones, pop corn buckets, and cherry limeade's- they were delish!! I made special cupcake collars for all of them and used striped liners to keep with the theme.The smash cake was a really large cupcake that looked like a "big top" tent. Each child got a "Big Top" sippie cup with their name on it to drink out of at the party and take home later.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I used a lot of paper decor which made it bright and fun! Streamers everywhere... and also artwork all over my windows and bathroommirrors just for fun! <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VPfyZ7-8rHQ/TeUs8kVJHTI/AAAAAAAAAj0/jSg8TuQeE8s/s1600/0029-DSC_7577.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VPfyZ7-8rHQ/TeUs8kVJHTI/AAAAAAAAAj0/jSg8TuQeE8s/s320/0029-DSC_7577.jpg" t8="true" width="211" /></a> </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<br />
Outside, under our "Big Top" was where all the action was. The balloon artist was a big hit with the kids and created everything their hearts desired! I did a few other games that were more for two year-olds and not really competitive. I had a "Treasure Hunt"- which was simply a sand box w/ buried treasures; the "Hungry Elephant" game- kids fed the elephant peanuts through his trunk for a prize; and last, the "Bean Bag Toss"- a Huge Clown that you tossed bean bags into his mouth for a prize. <br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cefod4EfjN8/TeUtGHq0y1I/AAAAAAAAAj4/zpsFTpSPLs4/s1600/0027-_DSC0186.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cefod4EfjN8/TeUtGHq0y1I/AAAAAAAAAj4/zpsFTpSPLs4/s200/0027-_DSC0186.jpg" t8="true" width="200" /></a>It was perfect- just enough and very simple so the kids could just play. <br />
<br />
The food outside was amazing!! From the slider station to the grilled corn- everyone felt and ate like they were at a real carnival.<br />
<br />
I did have a drink station in my kitchen which worked nicely (Lemonade/Sweet Tea/Cokes) with fun cups and straws for the adults.<br />
<br />
We didn't open any gifts at the party because the kids were having so much fun with all the entertainment that I didn't want to make them stop! After all, the only one that enjoys that is the Birthday Girl and she was busy the entire time! <br />
<br />
All of the event was captured by my good friend and super talented photographer- Donny Granger. THANK GOD!!! I think I took two pictures of my own (which even when I know I have a photographer I always take my own pics too!). He's awesome and you should totally have him take pics for you so you can enjoy yourself like I did! I'm so grateful for the amazing vendors I call friends- they helped make such sweet memories for my family and little girl... and hopefully for all the guests that came too!!<br />

Automatically we recommended the rooftop of the Madison Hotel for our venue. We designed the event décor with only a hint of eggplant (the wedding color), and used all white lounge furniture for seating and a few cocktail tables. The client loved the idea and we began work immediately on our “Miami Chic” engagement party.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As event designers, obviously the event design was very important to the overall success of an unforgettable night.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We used an all white monochromatic color scheme with hints of purple flowers to make a statement that was very “Miami Chic!”<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We used all white leather couches and day beds, white spandex covered cocktail tables and bistro tables and ghost chairs.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We used white sequin pillows on the couches and day beds.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Even the baby grand piano that entertained guests all evening was white. The bar was a white LED lit bar and had white shadowbox style shelving as a backdrop to house barware and flowers. We also used a white spandex screen behind the cigar roller’s station and lit it with eggplant lighting.</span><br />

The bride chose an eggplant bridesmaid dress and asked that we that purple in the floral décor so as to bring in some of the wedding colors and to add pop to the white decor. The top of the baby grand piano had a heart shaped purple floral piece to accent it and bring in the bride’s purple color. The contemporary rotating centerpieces were a hit, very dramatic and modern. Most of the arrangements used clear and purple aqua-beads instead of water. The floral designer also used Accent vases with holes through the middle of the vases and did a bridge shape design with big magenta callas going through the middle of the vases. She adorned our white frame for the signature drink with orchids and put small vases of flowers on the bar shelves. </span></div></div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In terms of lighting we used all 38-par cans with purple gels. Since we were limited on where we could put them because we were on a rooftop, we lit up the entrance and the sidewalls beside the entrance and the bar. We also used uplights on the white spandex behind the cigar roller. We used the existing lamppost on the rooftop for added lighting.</span></div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />

Their family has owned a cotton farm for many generations, and they wanted to host the soiree in their retired cotton gin. I was thrilled to use an out-of-the-box venue and excited about the challenge of designing a "Country Couture" event in such utilitarian space. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5o7kfZh_I/AAAAAAAAAgU/mfGNOrfBcZI/s1600/callie+boots.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5o7kfZh_I/AAAAAAAAAgU/mfGNOrfBcZI/s320/callie+boots.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I began brainstorming for decor details by getting to know the client's daughter. Because the party was a surprise, I had to do so through photographs and stories from her mother. She wanted "country," but not "cowgirl." Her favorite color is teal and she loves shopping at <a href="http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/index.jsp">Anthropologie </a>She is chic yet laid back, athletic and a social butterfly (like us!). I knew the client wanted to use resources already available, such as bales of hay and twinkle lights. Check out what we came up with, most images beautifully captured by <a href="http://www.facebook.com/#%21/pages/Memphis-TN/Photography-by-Angie-Gibson-Ford/125247557487457">photographer Angie Gibson Ford</a>, the less professional ones by us! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pEgzUsfI/AAAAAAAAAgg/WuDZ7Mmhqac/s1600/callie+cake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pUVTuvNI/AAAAAAAAAgw/7tblNhb10is/s1600/callie+cotton+stalk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pUVTuvNI/AAAAAAAAAgw/7tblNhb10is/s400/callie+cotton+stalk.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> Rice plants and cotton stalks right from their farm were affordable and oh so shabby chic! We love them nestled between the gin's retired utilities. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pKes5DjI/AAAAAAAAAgo/Vf5nytXN4ss/s1600/callie+clothespins.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
</a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pn8RceoI/AAAAAAAAAhE/fe7Io0vPsGY/s1600/callie+gin+roof.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5pn8RceoI/AAAAAAAAAhE/fe7Io0vPsGY/s400/callie+gin+roof.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> To fill the large ceiling space of the gin, we needed more than twinkle lights. Full country moons inspired these round orbs floating in the rafters. Guess what they are - latex balloons! We found 3' diameter circular balloons and had them strung with fishing wire at varied heights. They drew the eye upward and glowed in the party light. A birthday party is not complete without balloons, but we of course had to think of an out-of-the-box way to incorporate them.<br />

</a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5p5ccew_I/AAAAAAAAAhU/fswFJHlHzRU/s1600/callie+sign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5p5ccew_I/AAAAAAAAAhU/fswFJHlHzRU/s400/callie+sign.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> The client had this custom banner printed to welcome guests. You can see the twinkle lights and "moon" balloons peeking through the entry way. </div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5p9nb1h6I/AAAAAAAAAhY/Eo8TBNmfjAA/s1600/callie+vases.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5p9nb1h6I/AAAAAAAAAhY/Eo8TBNmfjAA/s400/callie+vases.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TJi2ZMDtpBI/AAAAAAAAAgI/NgwcTda3KRw/s1600/Callie+Sweet+16+Inspiration+Board.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> We got creative to work within the budget. We used wonderful resources at the farm to craft country couture centerpieces. We filled assorted vases with tied wheat and grains of rice. The ribbon and butterflies add pops of color to the neutral, organic palette of the farm. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5o95jbJMI/AAAAAAAAAgY/febOP1CY0zQ/s1600/Callie+butterfly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5o95jbJMI/AAAAAAAAAgY/febOP1CY0zQ/s400/Callie+butterfly.jpg" width="266" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Tall cotton stalks add height to table arrangements in dramatic glass cylinders. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
To bring country to chic, we created lounge areas with bales of hay and linens. We mixed burlap with teal and white and added chocolate sashes to tie them together. The lounge vignettes fringed the dance floor so guests could flop down to rest their dancin' feet! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5psWRf_GI/AAAAAAAAAhI/l4dTm1ARw4w/s1600/callie+hay+lounge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TK5psWRf_GI/AAAAAAAAAhI/l4dTm1ARw4w/s400/callie+hay+lounge.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">In lieu of a candy bar, we created a country tea and lemonade bar with our assorted apothecary jars. We mixed raspberry sweet tea, peach lemonade and other delectable mixes to quench the thirst of those teenage dancers. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">The focal point of the decor was a 20 foot burlap back drop strung with a Happy Sweet Sixteen message to the birthday girl. We ordered the letters from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/">Etsy</a> and they came out perfectly! We strung them on twine and ribbon and used clothespins to pin them up. We also strung pictures of the birthday girl - from high chairs to high heels - for guests to reminisce over. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">The whimsical cake came from Cakes by Mom and Me was a hit! We elevated it on a stand covered in a burlap linen tied with a chocolate sash. </div><br />

This party was a great experience for us- we got to think outside the box and utilize a totally different space. We had a great time and we hope the guests did as well!<br />

Today I wanted to write a quick post about design inspiration for events and a great online tool (that is free!) that will help you organize your ideas. When you start musing about all the creative elements you want to incorporate into an event, it is important to start big and then narrow down. Brainstorm all your craziest ideas- good or not so good- and jot them all down. You never know which ideas you will tweak, tone down (or up!) and utilize in your event. This is just as true for a small house party or shower as it is for a large wedding or party. Let the brainstorming begin!<br />
<br />
This past Sunday I did a Sweet 16 party for a darling young girl at her family's cotton gin. Needless to say, a cotton gin is a bare canvas to work with. I took some notes and asked some questions about her favorite colors, what resources were available for me to use, and the theme she wanted. Then I set to work on the research phase of the event. I searched online, listed every crazy idea I could think of, and even looked up interior design/clothing trends that were on theme. The result: I had a whole folder of pictures I saved from various websites, and now I needed to make sense of them all.<br />
<br />
So, I did what we usually do for inspiration board compilation and went to <a href="http://www.bighugelabs.com/">www.bighugelabs.com </a>to their <a href="http://www.bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php">mosaic maker. </a>This is a free tool in which you can upload anywhere from 4 to 36 photos and arrange them in a mosaic grid. Check out the inspiration boad for this Country Couture Sweet 16:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TJi2ZMDtpBI/AAAAAAAAAgI/NgwcTda3KRw/s1600/Callie+Sweet+16+Inspiration+Board.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TJi2ZMDtpBI/AAAAAAAAAgI/NgwcTda3KRw/s400/Callie+Sweet+16+Inspiration+Board.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Note how I sprinkled linen swatches of the color scheme to incorporate pops of color and texture. I narrowed all my ideas down to 12 photos. Some of these pictures were from past events of ours and some were found from simply googling ideas I had. Some showcased the actual rentals I ordered for the event and some served as simply ideas to offer the client. Either way, it is a great way to organize your ideas and see them come together.<br />
<br />
So, if you are planning to incorporate a good bit of design in your next event and need ways to compile your ideas and creativity, use the <a href="http://www.bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php">Mosaic Maker</a> at www.bighugelabs.com! And, if you want help designing and executing your next over the top, fab event, call the Buterflies! :) Stay tuned for pictures from the actual event! <br />

This was the case in a recent wedding we did at <a href="http://brooksmuseum.org/">The Brooks Museum of Art</a>. The client wanted something ethereal and unique for her ceremony in the front plaza. We had a lot of space and nothing structurally to play off of. She did not want a tent, but more of a light and airy frame with some fabric swagged to create a contained ceremony site. The result: a spiral ceremony!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TIacUZzrRQI/AAAAAAAAAgA/7IvQqmTlLoE/s1600/Crowley+spiral+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TIacUZzrRQI/AAAAAAAAAgA/7IvQqmTlLoE/s400/Crowley+spiral+5.jpg" width="400" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TIab97aJ64I/AAAAAAAAAfY/yZFNyq4vyJ0/s1600/Crowley+spiral+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TIab97aJ64I/AAAAAAAAAfY/yZFNyq4vyJ0/s400/Crowley+spiral+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>We had the chairs arranged in one large spiral, with the altar in the center on a raised stage. The center aisle was the walkway created by the spiral, so the bride and her party got to wind their way through every single guest. Everyone got a wonderful view of the bride and this made her moment walking down the isle that much more spectacular. Around the outside of the spiral we set up white columns and swagged fabric between them. This made the space more intimate and enclosed yet still light and airy. We created a chuppa-like structure around the raised altar and draped it with fabric and flowers. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://kevinbarrephoto.com/">Kevin Barre</a>, owner of <a href="http://kevinbarrephoto.com/">Kevin Barre Photography</a> captured all of these wonderful images. He was great to work with on this day and adapted very impressively to our non-conventional ceremony set up! Check out more of his photos:<br />

<div style="text-align: center;"> This is the altar area in the center of the spiral. The trees in the background made for a gorgeous backdrop! The altar was open from all sides so guests had a 360 view of the couple's vows. The spiral isle was drenched in rose petals to up the drama!</div><br />

We loved transforming the <a href="http://www.gpacweb.com/">Germantown Performing Arts Center</a> into a swanky Hollywood cocktail party! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKMAl-WfsI/AAAAAAAAAeo/d-f8LkSsQMs/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKMAl-WfsI/AAAAAAAAAeo/d-f8LkSsQMs/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0026.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We pipe-and-draped the entire front lobby to transform it into an all-white affair. We used spandex linens on the bars and created white leather lounge areas with shag rugs. Check out Marilyn hanging out in between the two bars! Light boxes glowing a faint blue and hundreds of crystal details brought in the luxe opulence of old Hollywood. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKLgdH-7TI/AAAAAAAAAeg/V2h8MnmKS-U/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKLgdH-7TI/AAAAAAAAAeg/V2h8MnmKS-U/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0025.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Check out the room after dark! We had two fabulous feather and spandex palm trees to frame the room with. We used feathers and crystals in the centerpieces and the blue glowing light boxes were the only color in the room.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKOy2NrfNI/AAAAAAAAAfI/pwctFXeCADM/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0143.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKOy2NrfNI/AAAAAAAAAfI/pwctFXeCADM/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0143.JPG" /></a></div><br />
We love using feathers as centerpieces! This is just another angle of the lobby. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKLEJMf72I/AAAAAAAAAeY/7QALD6cf3mA/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKLEJMf72I/AAAAAAAAAeY/7QALD6cf3mA/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0022.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The actual dinner took place on the GPAC Stage! We pipe-and-draped the halls to lead the guests from the all-white lobby to the stage for dinner. With the help of linens, lighting and centerpieces we created a black and red look. We used red rose balls elevated on silver candelabras for dramatically tall centerpieces on some tables, and extravagant black feather plumes in vases on others. Diners were entertained with live piano music from the black grand piano on stage with them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKNgyG3RtI/AAAAAAAAAe4/tH3Eevp-0eg/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0098.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKNgyG3RtI/AAAAAAAAAe4/tH3Eevp-0eg/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0098.JPG" /></a></div>This is a food station in the middle of the stage. Check out the tall red rose ball up close! Love the black, silver and red look on this stage.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKOKzW8xjI/AAAAAAAAAfA/Na1hBsML9DQ/s1600/2010_0801summer2010events0099.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/THKOKzW8xjI/AAAAAAAAAfA/Na1hBsML9DQ/s320/2010_0801summer2010events0099.JPG" /></a></div>We always alternate table looks. The red rose balls on the black linens, and the black vases and feather plumes on the red ones! Feathers are a glamorous detail you can use over and over again. They add drama, height and they wilt like flowers do.<br />

Stay tuned for the next post about this party! I will show pictures from the Green Martini Room and the Black and Silver Studio!Social Butterflies, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12408973285961178198noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4419286762418184302.post-30810860842263669462010-07-08T08:56:00.000-07:002010-07-08T08:58:51.957-07:00We all scream for THESE ice creams!In these hot summer months, entertaining can get down right stuffy. Sure, everyone is in the mood to get together around the backyard grill, but what about keeping cool? The other day I picked up July's <a href="http://www.instyle.com/instyle/">InStyle Magazine</a> and found an adorable article about creative ways to present ice cream to your guests. The article featured ideas by New York based dessert bar creator <a href="http://www.amyatlas.com/index.php/main/">Amy Atlas</a>. She had some downright cute stuff! This inspired me to do some searching for other creative ways to WOW your guests with ice cream. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqeY5GY8I/AAAAAAAAAdI/6XOmDsTZIMM/s1600/choco+ice+cream+sand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqeY5GY8I/AAAAAAAAAdI/6XOmDsTZIMM/s320/choco+ice+cream+sand.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Homemade ice cream sandwiches are a fabulous way to treat your guests to a nod to their childhood, gourmet style. Simply prepare no later than 24 hours in advance by choosing the ingredients you prefer; in this case, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookie-crackers, and sprinkles. Let ice cream of choice sit out of the freezer to get soft. Scoop a generous amount of ice cream onto the cookie, place cookie on top and press down steadily. Trim excess ice cream away with a butter knife and roll edges of sandwich in sprinkles. Wrap them in wax paper and put back into the freezer. Whisk them out when guests arrive and arrange artfully on serving trays! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqmoh2FaI/AAAAAAAAAdo/YkkTINisFUg/s1600/ice+cream+sand+pops.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqmoh2FaI/AAAAAAAAAdo/YkkTINisFUg/s320/ice+cream+sand+pops.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To up the fun, insert a popsicle stick to the ice cream before you place the finished sandwiches in the freezer. If you have a cute custom message, such as "Happy Birthday Molly" or "Best Wishes," go to <a href="http://store.papercupdesign.com/wooden-utensils.html">www.PaperCupDesign.com</a> to order printed popsicle sticks! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Experiment with unique and theme-specific colors and flavors. Here is pistachio ice cream rolled in chopped pistachios, strawberry, and pralines and cream rolled in chopped macadamias. They are sandwiched between circular cuts of waffle cones. Get creative! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXsh-kvBCI/AAAAAAAAAd4/-1Pusmqvc44/s1600/lemons+ice+cream+sand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXsh-kvBCI/AAAAAAAAAd4/-1Pusmqvc44/s320/lemons+ice+cream+sand.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is lemon ice cream sandwiched between thin cookie wafters. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqgtl1DfI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/5lmW9I99sb4/s1600/crispy+ice+cream+sand.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXqgtl1DfI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/5lmW9I99sb4/s320/crispy+ice+cream+sand.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">How cute is this! Strawberry ice scream sandwiched between rice crispy treats. The possibilities are endless when you consider the wide flavors of ice cream to use, the materials to sandwich them in, and the toppings to roll the edges in. No matter what you decide to use, the basic steps are the same. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXseE13PQI/AAAAAAAAAdw/8IxdwyzjlFc/s1600/ice+cream+pbj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TDXseE13PQI/AAAAAAAAAdw/8IxdwyzjlFc/s320/ice+cream+pbj.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Are your kids dreading the first day back to school? Are you counting down the minutes to their first day back at school? Throw them a "back to school" party! These ice cream sandwiches are an adorable detail for such an occasion. Here, pound cake is used as the "bread" and strawberry ice cream with chocolate chips are used in the middle. You could make true "PB&Js" by using strawberry and peanut butter ice cream in these! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Ice-cream topped cupcakes are an unexpected and adorable treat. Cupcakes are all the rage right now, so why not take it up a notch with a creative twist? To create, start a week before the party. Budgeting on about two cups per guest, buy all the ice cream and toppings you need. Bake vanilla cupcakes and freeze them. One day before, make space in your freezer for baking sheets. Scoop all the ice cream you want in neat scoops on a wax-paper lined baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze overnight. Just before guests arrive, place scoops on top of cupcakes and display them creatively! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

As much as we LOVE pink (as documented in my past two blog posts), we were excited to work with a client who wanted to mix it up and use orange, brown, green, champagne and copper. The end result was a beautiful glowing wedding in the heart of the Dixon Gardens. Check out the pictures, snapped by <a href="http://asianbeesphotography.com/">Annabella of Asian Bees Photography!</a></span></span></span><br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 11px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The centerpieces inside varied from low, sprawling clusters of bouquets and candles on clean, champagne satin linens... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClZpjM_6WI/AAAAAAAAAbI/Cy4q9ZbDIPM/s1600/IMG_3288.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClZpjM_6WI/AAAAAAAAAbI/Cy4q9ZbDIPM/s320/IMG_3288.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">... to intricate, twisted branches reaching towards the ceiling. The branches extend from gorgeous flower wreaths saturated with color. Karin Woodward with <a href="http://www.hautehorticulture.com/">Haute Horticulture</a> never ceases to amaze us with her gorgeous floral designs. Check out the orchids winding through the vase! For this alternate table look we added a sheer linen overlay over the classic champagne satin we used on the other look. We had to special order this overlay from <a href="http://partymosaic.com/">Mosaic</a>. The gold chivari chairs set off the elegant feel of the room!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Karin awes again with her creative orchid bubbles floating among her branchy outdoor arrangements. Love!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClco_nVlRI/AAAAAAAAAbg/3IYE2Mvqy7s/s1600/IMG_3346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClco_nVlRI/AAAAAAAAAbg/3IYE2Mvqy7s/s320/IMG_3346.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the arrangement from a distance. Romantically dramatic with the height, yet organically quaint with the moss covered pot! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClddam6VuI/AAAAAAAAAbo/-KpO3UuGk8w/s1600/IMG_3372.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClddam6VuI/AAAAAAAAAbo/-KpO3UuGk8w/s320/IMG_3372.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A view of the outdoor cigar lounge. Outside we traded the elegant champagne linens and gold chairs for brilliant pops of orange and mahogany brown chairs. I love how the orange looks in contrast to the beautiful green trees in the backdrop. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCleKvZWBpI/AAAAAAAAAbw/iBEVg07pVjM/s1600/IMG_3384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCleKvZWBpI/AAAAAAAAAbw/iBEVg07pVjM/s320/IMG_3384.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another luxurious, hand-rolled cigar bar! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClfHF48YfI/AAAAAAAAAb4/dRybqrWZURw/s1600/IMG_3404.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClfHF48YfI/AAAAAAAAAb4/dRybqrWZURw/s320/IMG_3404.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Little details in the catering display. These unique upside-down cups of petals elevate the glass platform for the food display. <a href="http://www.cfycatering.com/welcome.html">CFY</a> provided their couture catering, fabulous as always! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClf7xe3UHI/AAAAAAAAAcA/pPnsrlQVP1Y/s1600/IMG_3426.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClf7xe3UHI/AAAAAAAAAcA/pPnsrlQVP1Y/s320/IMG_3426.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Three romantic brass chandeliers hung down the center of the clear-top tent ceiling. The orange fabric swagging draws the eye skyward and creates a lavish frame for the dance floor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClgVs76LcI/AAAAAAAAAcI/TvsDO2pmzLs/s1600/IMG_3425.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClgVs76LcI/AAAAAAAAAcI/TvsDO2pmzLs/s320/IMG_3425.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is a closeup! Again, love the orange against the trees!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClhRM_UGyI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/afTJ8wPPcRA/s1600/IMG_3431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TClhRM_UGyI/AAAAAAAAAcQ/afTJ8wPPcRA/s320/IMG_3431.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The whole view of the tent. The band, <a href="http://www.regmemphis.com/index.cfm?page=weddingsSub&type2=r&entid=280">Party Planet</a>, rocked the house and got the guests dancing in spite of the Memphis June heat. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCljHxqFZhI/AAAAAAAAAcY/u5i-YL3pslg/s1600/IMG_3440.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCljHxqFZhI/AAAAAAAAAcY/u5i-YL3pslg/s320/IMG_3440.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A cocktail table outside with a sneak peek of the orange and white lounge area. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCljgS6niYI/AAAAAAAAAcg/SVtiPxFi5RM/s1600/IMG_3473.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TCljgS6niYI/AAAAAAAAAcg/SVtiPxFi5RM/s320/IMG_3473.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The orange and white lounge area provided a swanky and comfortable place for guests to chill out by the dance floor. LOVE this leather furniture from <a href="http://mahaffeytent.com/index.htm">Mahaffey Tent and Party Rentals</a>!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Unexpected and fabulous centerpieces for the long tables in the tent. The contrast of the bright flowers and cool moss mirrors the overall scene of the orange decor against the green trees. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My ABSOLUTE favorite detail- the hand-strung flower chandelier by <a href="http://www.hautehorticulture.com/">Haute Horticulture</a>! This hung over the dance floor and was a favorite of the guests. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

This one was at <a href="http://www.brooksmuseum.org/">The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art</a>. The ceremony was in the holly garden and the reception in the rotunda and Brushmark. The Bride was inspired by a hot pink pair of blinged-out <a href="http://www.christianlouboutin.com/">Christian Louboutin</a> shoes she picked up in Paris! She told us that the pink and orange colors conveyed her bubbly personality. Check out the photos of her wedding snapped by Donny Granger of <a href="http://creationstudiosevents.com/">Creation Studios</a>!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The ceremony was breathtaking in the holly garden. Rows of white chivari chairs with hot pink bengalese chair pads lined the grass. We had these orange and pink chair caps custom made. Orange satin on the front... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The elaborate chair covers and caps made for a dramatic view in the ceremony area. The fabric swagging at the altar and hanging flower balls tied it all together. Thanks to L & Jay productions for the gorgeous flowers! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The cake stayed classic with a white fondant backdrop. Intricately designed orange and pink fondant daisies graced a couple tiers! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The ice cream bar boasted signs thanking the guests for making their night "so sweet." Check out the ice cream cones made of flowers! The couple gave away ice cream toppings in cute little jars as favors. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB94iv8napI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/lKYISG5fYa8/s1600/laura+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB94iv8napI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/lKYISG5fYa8/s400/laura+9.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The lounge furniture for this wedding was top-notch. We used three rental companies to get the looks we wanted! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB94wfCs-UI/AAAAAAAAAao/0Dl4-i3SwgA/s1600/laura+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB94wfCs-UI/AAAAAAAAAao/0Dl4-i3SwgA/s400/laura+12.jpg" width="266" /></a><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The ceiling of the tent covering the dance floor! How dramatic is that swagging? The flower ball in the center ties it all together. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB940fq4vcI/AAAAAAAAAaw/EvUSHdrUUtA/s1600/laura+13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TB940fq4vcI/AAAAAAAAAaw/EvUSHdrUUtA/s400/laura+13.jpg" width="265" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">More lounge furniture and the dance floor. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The whole outside tent area! Here is another great view of the dramatic tent ceiling. The pink flower ball from the ceiling and the orange one form the circular couch kiss each other in the middle of the room. White linens and a mix of tall bistro tables and short cocktail tables line the dance floor. Don't you just love the white chateau chairs? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This wedding was a blast to design from concept to finish! I hope you have been inspired by our pink and orange weddings. Two of our fabulous clients picked this combo as their wedding colors! This is a great example of how weddings these days are all about personal style over sticking with rigid tradition. Check out the pictures we snapped with our camera! We will post the professional ones when they are ready. We hope you are inspired!<br />

Our florist, <a href="http://www.hautehorticulture.com/">Karin Woodward</a>, is so creative! All the flowers seem to be bowing in the direction of the couple, showing their love. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is a close-up of the altar. We love the topsy-turvy flowers in the tall, dramatic vases! This is nothing like what the guests were used to. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We love the texture and color of this linen too! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcZ0U7t7I/AAAAAAAAAY4/34C-tR2fj-0/s1600/mayberry+tent.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcZ0U7t7I/AAAAAAAAAY4/34C-tR2fj-0/s320/mayberry+tent.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The orange swagging on the white tent adds drama, as do the persian lace gobo lights! The white dance floor is a perfect canvas for guests to shake their thang. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcTTxlLvI/AAAAAAAAAYg/erdGB6ptP_Y/s1600/mayberry+cake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcTTxlLvI/AAAAAAAAAYg/erdGB6ptP_Y/s320/mayberry+cake.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The cake is obviously the center of attention, with the hand-strung flower chandelier meeting it from the ceiling. How gorgeous! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcX1V9wQI/AAAAAAAAAYw/8CBYXwiZQ3o/s1600/mayberry+lounge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcX1V9wQI/AAAAAAAAAYw/8CBYXwiZQ3o/s320/mayberry+lounge.jpg" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What party is complete without a lounge area? We created an ultra-modern place for guests to take a load off and relax with a view. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcRSBwolI/AAAAAAAAAYY/onf_ewToyCs/s1600/mayberry+bride.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-decoration: none;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBpcRSBwolI/AAAAAAAAAYY/onf_ewToyCs/s320/mayberry+bride.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The tent illuminated at night. The pink and orange makes the party seem to glow with warmth! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We have been busy busy busy designing fab events this past month- so busy we have slacked on the blogging! But that is ok, because it only means that we get to blog about all of them and give y'all tons of lust worthy wedding ideas. In fact, an engagement party we did this past weekend was so chic that <a href="http://www.stylemepretty.com/2010/06/10/memphis-engagement-party-with-miami-chic-style/">Style Me Pretty</a> decided to cover it! This just goes to show you that Memphis can host events worthy of Miami Beach. Check out the details:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDmKVsczI/AAAAAAAAAXw/9hb2L_OocJ8/s1600/jenni2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDmKVsczI/AAAAAAAAAXw/9hb2L_OocJ8/s320/jenni2.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Keeping with the Miami Beach theme, we wanted to keep the party hot and chic with all white decor. However, pops of fuschia were in order to create eye catching details. Check out the ghost chairs (the clear acrylic chairs around the cocktail tables)- we love those right now! They add a lucite luxury to any event. In this picture you also get a peek at the luxe leather lounge furniture. SOO South Beach!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDWjOjPEI/AAAAAAAAAXY/mddJh2XXW9o/s1600/jenni3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDWjOjPEI/AAAAAAAAAXY/mddJh2XXW9o/s320/jenni3.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What engagement celebration is complete without a champagne bar? The crisp and bubbly libation added such a refreshing touch to this southern summer rooftop party. The fruit skewers added a sweet touch and the rich purple orchids pumped up the drama. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDK5ung4I/AAAAAAAAAXI/OdZ5iqMonxE/s1600/jenni5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDK5ung4I/AAAAAAAAAXI/OdZ5iqMonxE/s320/jenni5.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As usual, Karin Woodward, owner of <a href="http://www.hautehorticulture.com/">Haute Horticulture</a> created incredible art with her flower designs. She never does the same thing twice, something we really relate to! These arrangements are definitely worthy of the "Miami Chic" description. Thanks also to Annabella Brandon of <a href="http://asianbeesphotography.com/">Asian Bees</a> for capturing such fantastic images of this event! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDbRP148I/AAAAAAAAAXg/jkYaFVZBaWk/s1600/jenni7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDbRP148I/AAAAAAAAAXg/jkYaFVZBaWk/s320/jenni7.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">When it came to entertainment for this unique soirée, we had to think grand! That is why we brought up this gorgeous all white grand piano to the Madison Rooftop. The orchid heart ties it all together and makes this piano even more swanky than it was before. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbGlu9wLbI/AAAAAAAAAYA/3rYoWCoCB6k/s1600/jenni6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbGlu9wLbI/AAAAAAAAAYA/3rYoWCoCB6k/s320/jenni6.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You can't get more "Miami Chic" than a Cuban cigar bar! Guests enjoyed the open air of the rooftop and celebrated a happy engagement with this luxurious treat. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDtaRdmOI/AAAAAAAAAX4/Qkcdr9vqP8I/s1600/jenni4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbDtaRdmOI/AAAAAAAAAX4/Qkcdr9vqP8I/s320/jenni4.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">White leather lounge furniture and spandex linens on the end tables create an ultra contemporary place to chill out. The sleek lines are sexy and chic and fit right into the feel of the event. Check out the eye catching flowers! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbCN2Nv4eI/AAAAAAAAAWo/l50bYJ6123k/s1600/jenni1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/TBbCN2Nv4eI/AAAAAAAAAWo/l50bYJ6123k/s320/jenni1.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Speaking of spandex, check out the sleek bistro linens. Spandex is our favorite linen right now, and it hugs these tables beautifully. The white bar stools are a great accent and back up to a dramatic rooftop view! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I LOVE the idea of using varying complimentary shades with white, slate grey pewter neutrals. Kelly green also looks great with black and white! Keep it luxe with rich satin and pintuck linens, or fresh with wheatgrass accents and pops of yellow. Check out some ideas!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Think of creative ways to tie in the color. Fruits such as granny smith apples and limes are creative and inexpensive ways to add color. Use green everywhere form the signature drink to the florals to the candy bar to the lighting. As the guests arrive to GPAC, they will be welcomed by a search light (can't do Hollywood without a search light) and STAR steps like you are on Hollywood Boulevard leading into the lobby!<br />
<br />
The lobby is going to be transformed into Marilyn Monroe's boudoir with all the decor in white - from the leather couches, to the white draped walls and the feather palm trees. On the white draped walls between the bars will we suspend poster size pictures of famous Old Hollywood Stars! Marilyn herself will be showing us her famous move from "The Seven Year Itch"! Above the lobby we will have a jazz trio playing some of Old Hollywood greatest sounds - those of Sinatra and Dean Martin.<br />
<br />
As you leave the lobby area you journey back to the auditorium where the stage will be transformed into the piano bar. With the black curtains dropped and the tables all done up in red and black, it's hard to mistake this for anything but Old Hollywood style. We are using giant red rose balls on the tables with small table lamps for the cocktail tables. Thankfully GPAC owns black chairs which fit perfectly into our theme colors. To add more ump (if that is a word!) to the look of the design, we are using the overhead par cans to project red lights on the floor.<br />
<br />
To make sure you don't lose your way in GPAC and possibly miss one of the other decorated rooms, we are using all black drape down the hallway. Which of course takes you to the next stop, the Green Room - The Martini Lounge. GPAC has already decorated this room with very contemporary colors (reds, greens and blacks) which makes it easy to leave as is and just add a bar to the atmosphere. We are going to adorned the glass table in the room with a relish tray to go with our martinis. And not to leave out the best detail - we will have a beautiful lady sitting in a giant martini glass adding the olives to the martinis and then handing them to the guests! I have a feeling this might be the guys favorite room!<br />
<br />
Last on the trip down the hall is the Black Box - or as we are putting it, the Rat Pack Lounge. Inside this great room, the black curtains will be drawn and you will be enticed to sit on one of the silver leather couches. The bistro tables will be adorned in black linens and tied with a silver sash. They will also have the silver/black lamps on them to give that Old Hollywood feel again. The food table will be adorned with square crystal chandeliers.<br />
<br />
We can't wait to get the opportunity to present all these ideas to the MAHBA board next week. Let's hope they love it as much as we do! Below is our inspiration board we are using for our meeting.<br />

She was a joy to work with and her and her husband's vows brought the congregation to tears. Throughout the planning, she wanted to keep the theme of originality and celebrating their personal relationship. They customized wherever they could, including the programs!<br />
<br />
Because they had a non-church wedding and a relatively simple ceremony, they did not have an extensive order of service. Therefore, rather than printing ceremony programs, the bride printed a timeline of her relationship with her groom. Their first meeting right down to his proposal and then their nuptials were represented on the timeline. Guest book attendants handed these timelines out in lieu of programs and they were the topic of conversation all night.<br />
<br />
This is just another way to customize your wedding and make the day centered around your relationship.<br />
<br />
Happy planning!Social Butterflies, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12408973285961178198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4419286762418184302.post-4284495719852987332010-04-12T08:13:00.000-07:002010-04-12T08:17:10.032-07:00Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation "Promise Ball" 2010So the Butterflies were a part of a great endeavor Saturday night at the Peabody Hotel. We were the event designers for JDRF's Promise Ball. The theme was 1970's since the West TN Branch of JDRF was founded in 1970. Everybody was dressed in their groovy attire as well as the event was. We had daisy chains, crazy daisy backdrops, some awesome silent auction items and fabulous design in the Grand Ballroom.<br />
<br />
Jack Soden, CEO of Elvis Enterprises, was the Honoary Speaker as was Elvis Enterprises was the Co-Sponsor for the event. Andy Childs was the opening entertainment and then Party Planet helped the people get their groove on.<br />
<br />
The event design was simple: make it look goovy, yet elegant and classy! Thanks to Mahaffey Events & Party Rentals as they provided all the white sateen drape all around the ballroom, the lit bars were by Cort Events as well as all of our lounge furniture was from Cort Events and of course the menu was delicious. One of the desserts was an "Elvis" theme - chocolate cake, banana mouselinni with peanut butter and chocolate gaunche on top. Oh it was too die for! All the tables were draped in spandex as were the chairs. Our color scheme in the dinner was purple, blue and green and the colors in our silent auction were hot pink, orange and yellow. We had lava lamps at the registration tables and an adorable JDRF daisy sign too. Haute Horticulture designed floral peace signs for the dinner tables and were introduced to "colored aqua balls"!<br />
<br />
All in all it was a fabulous event as well as successful. JDRF's goal was to raise $210,000 and they raised a little more than $336,000!Social Butterflies, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12408973285961178198noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4419286762418184302.post-10914708064532027462010-04-08T15:59:00.000-07:002010-04-08T15:59:43.580-07:00Facebook Reunites Again!I know there are so many stories out there about people reconnecting after so many years because they found each other on Facebook. I am so glad to say that I have been reunited with my best friend from 8th Grade! We first ran into each other when our oldest children attended the same elementary school, but then I moved away and we lost touch again. But then Facebook became a phenomenon and we reconnected again!<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">So why blog about a Facebook reconnection, because she is getting married this September and I am excited to say I am helping her plan her big day! When I saw her adorable save the date had a turquoise ribbon, I couldn't wait to see if she would accent it with red! Needless to say we had some opposition from the groom who wanted a lighter color, so we compromised and are doing turquoise/pool blue, red and pink! Below are the turquoise/pool blue, red and pink inspiration boards.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">She is going to wear her fabulous red heels with her wedding dress and then change into a red dress for the party part of the reception.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The reception location has a pool so we are going to float some red and pink rose balls in the pool with candles.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The gazebo she is getting married under is going to be draped in pink and red since it is white.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The aisle runner is going to be either pink or a custom red rose aisle runner.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Inside we are going to have pool blue satin overlays with a white base linen. The chairs will be white chair covers with pool blue satin sashes.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Centerpieces will be tall clear vases with giant red rose balls and smaller pink rose balls on the tables. Some tables will have a tablescape of pink rose balls and turquoise squatty vases w/roses coming out of them.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The dj is going to adorn the walls with pink, red and blue up lights.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">For the groom we are going to do.....hmmm I think this was suppose to be a surprise, so I better hold off on saying in case he reads my blog!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">So anyway, I so excited to be helping Wendy & Andy with their dream wedding. Can't wait to post pictures of their September wedding.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/S75drzi0s7I/AAAAAAAAAVA/lwglW_y47qE/s1600/inspiration+board+-+haag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/S75drzi0s7I/AAAAAAAAAVA/lwglW_y47qE/s320/inspiration+board+-+haag.jpg" wt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/S75fFc6qQlI/AAAAAAAAAVI/Gcn1whn3ZaU/s1600/inspiration+board.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PsRjU8FZ56U/S75fFc6qQlI/AAAAAAAAAVI/Gcn1whn3ZaU/s320/inspiration+board.jpg" wt="true" /></a></div>Social Butterflies, LLChttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12408973285961178198noreply@blogger.com0
